This is a bad spot for Dallas, who will make their 4th game in 5 days, having also played last night, in a close loss in Oklahoma City against the Thunder. In that game, Marion played 36 minutes, Dirk 38 minutes and Terry 37 minutes. The Mavs have been struggling down the stretch due to lack of energy and this is why they have had close losses against the Nets and in New Orleans, while they almost also had a late choke against Utah by allowing the Jazz to score more than 40 points in the 4th quarter. Yesterday, Dallas was up by 91-87 with 2:46 to go, but then they scored 0 points in the remaining of the game.
Dallas will be without Haywood for tonight and so, they will struggle on the center position, good news for the Knicks, who will have a potential big edge with Chandler tonight, especially on rebounds. Dallas has been struggling in grabbing boards lately, while the Knicks are an average team on this area and they should get the upperhand on this area today. On the first game of this series, the Knicks won at home, with a monster game by Lin with 28 points and 14 assists. In that game, Melo didn't play and so, Marion was free to guard Lin. This time it won't happen and Lin will be defended by Kidd and/or Beaubois. The Knicks have much better depth than Dallas right now and they have also a better spot for this game. Down the stretch, the tired legs of the Mavs may be a big factor once again and so, I'll be taking the Knicks tonight.
