Minnesota has lost four of their last five games and this has forced their coach Cheryl Reeve to hold a meeting with the team's captains after their last loss against Atlanta on Monday. Minnesota made a comeback against the Dream, but as their starters always play heavy minutes, they didn't have fresh legs down the stretch. The key for the Lynx's loss at Atlanta was the 19 turnovers that they committed, something that resulted in 25 points off turnovers and 24 fast break points to the Dream. 

For tonight, the Lynx will be fired up and they'll crush the lowly Sun. Connecticut lost all their confidence after not being able to beat Chicago, even though they had a 23 points lead at one point. Their key guard Allison Hightower is out for the season, while Kara Lawson is also out due to personal problems. So, Connecticut will only have Tina Charles against the world for tonight's game, but Minnesota is a top paint defense and also an excellent defensive rebounding team. Minnesota's defense will focus on Charles and with that, the Sun's offense will heavily struggle. Therefore, I expect an easy win for Minnesota and so, I'll be taking them in here.

Connecticut is one of the teams that I really expect to see improvements on their next few games. The Sun had a poor start of the season mostly due to the injuries that they had in the backcourt. Tina Charles is the reigning MVP, but she can't do miracles on her own. The good news is that one of their top guards, Kara Lawson, returned a couple of games ago, while the other top guard, Renee Montgomery, is returning tonight. With these two guards back in combination with Tina Charles down low, Connecticut will automatically improve a lot on offense. Tulsa is coming from a big win at Seattle, where the Storm scored just 59 points, but the truth is that the Shock is still dead last on defensive rates with 107.3! Even a shorthanded Connecticut without Lawson and Montgomery was able to score 88 points against Tulsa on the first game of the season, while shooting 50.8% FG! I expect the Sun to have another big offensive game against the Shock tonight.

Tulsa is coming from a mega blowout 86-59 win at Seattle, but I don't know if we should take this result so seriously. In fact, three of their four wins this season were against Seattle, so it's clear that the Shock have a great matchup with the Storm, but struggle against everybody else. Tulsa will come to tonight's game with a bit more confidence than usual, but they will face a fired up Connecticut, who is looking to start a good run as soon as possible now that they have a healthy backcourt once again. The Sun is definitely a better team than Tulsa and so, I'll be taking them on the moneyline tonight.

We can expect a fast paced game between these two teams, but they both play undersized featuring some small ball lineups. Connecticut has been struggling a lot on offense due to the injuries of their guards. Tina Charles keeps dominating, but without a consistent outside shooting, the Sun can't produce offense. But for today's game, not only Tina Charles will completely dominate San Antonio's undersized frontcourt, as Kara Lawson returned on the team's last game against Chicago and she's the team's best SG. The Sun's offense is much more efficient at home and today against the #3 worst defensive team in the league, I expect Connecticut to have a nice offensive game. On the other side, Connecticut's defense struggled a lot on their last two games on 3pts defense with 10-23 (43%) 3pts and San Antonio is one of the most unselfish teams in the league. We have in here a 154 points line, when my projected line is 159 points, so I see good value in here to take the Over.

Connecticut is struggling due to several injury problems with their guards: Kara Lawson is questionable for tonight, while Tan White and Renee Montgomery remain injured. Thanks to this, the potential edge that Connecticut would have against Chicago on 3pts offense disappears, as these injured guards are exactly the Sun's top shooters. So, it isn't a surprise that Connecticut shot just 19-55 (34.5%) 3pts on their last five games, with just one good performance against the terrible Tulsa defense, where they shot 8-14 3pts.

Sylvia Fowles is playing at an impressive level and she will have a great duel tonight against the reigning MVP Tina Charles. Thanks to that, Connecticut's offense will also struggle near the rim, as Charles won't have an easy task tonight. Chicago won't need to double team her, so the Sun's shooters won't have the space that they are used to have. On the other hand, I believe Connecticut will be able to do a decent defensive job tonight as well. I expect this game to be a well-fought contest, where both teams will eventually struggle a bit on offense. Therefore, I don't agree with the current high totals line and so, I'll be taking the Under in here.

WNBA Premium Play 06/14: Connecticut Sun @ New York Liberty

Connecticut is coming from a big win over Indiana, in a game where Tina Charles dominated. The Fever play with a small lineup and the reigning MVP took advantage of them to torch them. Thanks to her, the Sun grabbed 57% of the rebounds, while Charles herself had 13-17 FG, 30 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 blocks: pure domination! Indiana's offense missed a lot of wide open shots, their bench was very poor, they are unable to create shots down low, while Tamika Catchings had a poor shooting game with 3-15 FG! Connecticut saw four of their starters playing more than 34 minutes against the Fever and now with just 1 day off to rest for tonight's game, I believe this will be a pure letdown spot for the Sun!

New York is coming from a revenge game against Atlanta, on their best performance of the season so far! The Liberty are defending very well right now by averaging a defensive rating of 88.6 over their last four games! But the difference on their last game against the Dream was their offense, with less turnovers (a season low of 16), while having a season high 22 assists, the first game where they reached the 20 assists mark this season! Cappie Pondexter showed good rhythm on the fourth quarter, while their frontcourt was also excellent, as this was the first game of the season where Atlanta got outrebounded! 

The Liberty have a better spot for today and they are playing much better than they were on their season debut, where they lost at Connecticut. At that time, the Sun was healthy, while the Liberty had to play without Plenette Pierson. She has returned to the team meanwhile and she has been helping the Liberty a lot. It also seems like Cheryl Ford will finally play tonight and with that Connecticut will struggle more to dominate down low, unlike what happened on their last game at Indiana. Therefore, I believe the Liberty will have a great win tonight and so, I'll be taking them in here.
