New York is coming from a nice road win at Washington, while Cappie Pondexter is now playing better at the PG position, with 6-20 FG against the Mystics. But the big difference was at the paint, with 56 points scored there! Kara Braxton crushed Washington with 11-14 FG! The Liberty found their posts with deep position in the paint and they also created easy chances at point-blank range. The only reason why Washington managed to pull of a fight on this game was because of their huge depth. The Liberty keep being an elite defensive team this season (#6 overall, but #2 in eFG%, #2 FT's and also #2 in defensive rebounding!) and so, they should have a lot of problems against Connecticut's terrible offense.
Even though the Sun have the reigning MVP in Tina Charles down low, I believe Connecticut will continue to struggle on offense tonight. The Liberty's interior defense has been great by being #2 in the league in paint defense with 28.1 ppg allowed and this is probably why Charles shot just 7-21 FG and 3-17 FG on the Sun's first two games against New York this season! Connecticut's defense isn't great at forcing turnovers (#8 with 15.5 TO/rate), the Liberty's offense main problem, so I believe New York have a great matchup tonight to continue their nice second half of the season. Therefore, I'll be taking the Liberty tonight for an easy win.
