WNBA Premium Play 08/03: Indiana Fever @ Chicago Sky

WNBA - 653 Chicago Sky @ 654 Indiana Fever

Projected Line: 138 points

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

This is a back to back game for Chicago, as they defeated the Mystics at home last night. It was a tough win for the Sky, with all starters playing more than 30 minutes. Washington's defense showed once again that they can't defend the paint and Sylvia Fowles took advantage of that to shoot 10-14 FG, while Tamera Young shot 5-9 FG! The interior edge saved Chicago last night, as they were terrible on the perimeter with 1-14 3pts! Things won't be as easy for Chicago tonight, as Indiana is #3 in the league on paint defense with 29.1 ppg allowed and even though the Fever is an undersized team, the truth is that they work very well on defense with good double teams and smart decisions, so I believe they will do a great job on Chicago's offense tonight.

On this kind of matchup, Elena Delle Donne would be the X factor for the Sky, as with her playing at the PF position, she would crush Indiana, who would be more worried with defending Sylvia Fowles. But with Delle Donne out with a concussion, everything changes. On the other side, Indiana's offense won't be on a great spot neither, as they are coming from a very tough game at Connecticut last Thursday. Indiana needs turnovers to create transition points, but Chicago is #2 in the league in avoiding turnovers with 14.2 TO/rate. Indiana with no depth right now won't be able to be consistent on offense throughout the whole game, while a tired Sky offense will have the same consistency issues. Therefore, I believe this will be a very low scoring game and so, I'll be taking the Under in here on a Double Dime Play!

WNBA Premium Play 07/19: Washington Mystics @ Indiana Fever

WNBA - 601 Washington Mystics @ 602 Indiana Fever

Projected Line: 152 points

***TRIPLE DIME PLAY***

We are in front of two teams who have been stepping it up lately. Indiana was a question of getting their players healthy. Their guard Erin Phillips returned and with her on the floor, the Fever has finally their whole starting lineup available that won the WNBA Finals last season. Phillips's presence on the floor helps everything, as some players that weren't used to handle so much the basketball struggled while she was out, but now with her back, they can now focus on their primary strength: shooting the basketball.

So, it wasn't a surprise to see the Fever scoring 68 points on the first three periods of their game against New York. Then, they scored just 6 points on the last quarter, but they were up by almost 30 points and the whole quarter was a practice, with Tamika Catchings on the bench. The truth is that Indiana's offense is now way improved and I believe we won't see them having again a stretch of six games on the 60's points scored like it happened previously on this season.

On the other side, Washington is getting more and more similar to Connecticut from the previous seasons. The Mystics have assimilated the ideas from their new coach (former coach of Connecticut) well, they have the deepest roster in the league even though they have no star power, but their coach trusts in every single player of the roster. On their last two games, Washington defeated San Antonio due to key runs that came from their bench! The Mystics scored 80 or more points in four of their last five games, as they are using their depth edge to push the ball and wear down their opponents. The Mystics averaged just 8.4 fast break points per game on the first eight games of the season, but they are now averaging 12.8 fast break points per game on their last seven contests!

The first game between these two teams this season ended with the Mystics winning a super low scoring contest (64-60) in mid-June. Both teams are now playing much better on offense right now than they were at the time and therefore, I actually expect this game to be a relatively high scoring contest. So, I'll be taking the Over in here on a Triple Dime Play!

WNBA Premium Play 07/13: Indiana Fever @ New York Liberty

WNBA - 651 Indiana Fever @ 652 New York Liberty

Projected Line: Indiana by 4 points

***TRIPLE DIME PLAY***

Even though they lost their last game against Minnesota, Indiana was finally able to present their starting five from the 2012 Finals (Erin Phillips, Briann January, Shavonte Zellous, Tamika Catchings and Erlana Larkins) for the first time this season. After a poor start of the season with a lot of injuries, Indiana has won three of their last four games and on their last game against Minnesota, they saw one of their key players Erin Phillips returning to action. Indiana was able to hand around with Minnesota all game and they were just down by 2 points with five minutes to go. The key lineup that won the championship last year is now finally back together and so, it's natural that the Fever will get closer to closer to the level that they had last season very soon.

I believe Indiana will face New York at the right time for them. The Liberty have been struggling badly with turnovers all season and they are dead last in the league on that department with 19.9% TO/rate. Due to this, their head coach Bill Laimbeer has decided to put Cappie Pondexter at the PG position.

"I think in the long term, whether the long term is this year or for sure next year, I think that is her position." Bill Laimbeer said. "I think she learned in the last few games, in games that were out of control. She did very well in her first time."

Pondexter played at the PG position on the team's last game against Seattle, but things didn't improve as New York still committed 18 turnovers. Indiana is a great team on pressuring the opposing ball handler and they are clearly #1 in the league in creating turnovers to their opponents with 20.1 opp TO/game. Therefore, I expect the Fever to have a huge edge on this department tonight. I believe the Fever will come very confident for today's game and with Erin Phillips back, they are a better team than New York, who is currently trying to learn a new system with Pondexter at the PG position. I believe Indiana should have favored on this game and so, with the current line, I'll be taking the Fever tonight on a Triple Dime Play!
