NBA Premium Play 04/05: New York Knicks @ Orlando Magic

NBA - 501 New York Knicks @ 502 Orlando Magic

Projected line: pk line

I really believe the Knicks are a good play in here. With Ryan Anderson out of this game and considering the huge influence he has on the team, Orlando won't have their usual offensive style of spreading the floor to the shooters, as Big Baby will start instead of him. With Ryan on the floor, Orlando is averaging an offensive rate of 110.8 this season, but without him on the floor, the Magic are just averaging 93.5! Orlando has basically stopped defending and I'm not even talking about their last two games without Howard. I'm talking the last two games with Howard on the floor! Dallas shot 9-12 FG in transition and 9-17 FG on post ups against them and in fact, in their last 5 games, they have been allowing 71% FG at the rim, 49% FG from 16-23 feet and 38% from 3pts! All these numbers are much worse than their season average!

On the other side, the Knicks are coming from a terrible loss at Indiana, where they were outscored by 17-40 in the 4th quarter! Ouch! The matchup between Howard and Chandler will be a good one to follow, but the difference will be in the rotation of the perimeter players from both teams, where the Knicks should get the upperhand, as they defend well and they are more aggressive, two things that the Magic's perimeter is lacking right now. The Knicks' defense is #2 in the league in defending post up plays and #1 in defending P&R roll man plays and with the Magic having almost 22% of volume of their offense in these two areas, I believe they will struggle on offense today. The Knicks are playing harder than the Magic right now and so, I believe they have a good shot to win this game outright. Therefore, I'll take them in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 501 New York Knicks (+3,5) @ -110 / 1.91 on 5Dimes
