NBA - 501 Philadelphia 76ers @ 502 Toronto Raptors
Projected line: Philadelphia by 1 point
Philadelphia is coming from a blowout win in New Jersey, but note that things didn't work that well for them, as coach Collins put Turner and Hawes coming off the bench. If you're hoping that the new starting lineup is working, think again, as they were outscored by 7-12 (and playing horrible offensively) and 9-11 to start the first and third quarter of the game. When the pace of the game was slow, the Sixers offense was terrible, but then the 2nd unit entered the field and set up a faster pace and that allowed Philadelphia to make some damage via transition and score easy points in the paint against the super bad Nets interior defense. The Sixers' aggressiveness allowed them to make 23 free throws, while they shot 17-28 FG at the rim, 7-13 FG from 3-9 feet, 8-13 FG in transitions, 6-8 FG in cuts and 5-8 FG in offensive rebounds!
I didn't like the way the Sixers are coming for this game, especially if Toronto plays at a slow pace. Note that this is a bad spot for Philadelphia, as they will be playing their 4th game in 5 days, with this game being a back to back for them as well. Toronto was blown out by Oklahoma City, but they were competitive until the middle of the 3rd quarter and then in a bad spot, they played a back to back game in Indiana, where they were down by 14 at halftime, but they fought back and just lost the game by 5 points. Note that the pace of that game was super blow with 84. Indiana had a lot of free throws with 24-31 and note that Toronto defended well near the basket, with Indiana shooting 13-22 FG at the rim and 2-8 FG from 3-9 feet. The damage was all done from the outside and the Sixers are currently struggling on the offense.
This series is currently at 1-1 and already in April, the Raptors went to Philadelphia win by 99-78! In that game, the pace of that game was super slow with 79.5 and with both teams struggling to shoot on the inside, shooting everything from the outside. Looking at Philadelphia's terrible spot and bad outside shooting, I expect Toronto to be very competitive tonight and so, I'll take the Raptors in here in a low scoring game.
