NBA Premium Play 03/03: Washington Wizards @ Toronto Raptors

NBA - 803 Washington Wizards @ 804 Toronto Raptors

Projected line: 189 points | Toronto by 1 point

Dwane Casey opted to go with a "bigger" starting 5 in their last game against Boston, as after having had success with such lineup at New Jersey, they had been pounded against Atlanta, especially by Joe Johnson. However, by playing on a slow pace on half court against the Celtics, their offense had no chance against Boston! Their lack of quality on the frontcourt is evident without Bargnani and it makes them to knock down from the perimeter and the result of that was 4-20 3pts against Atlanta and 2-20 FG from 16-23 against Boston! Toronto will surely have an extra effort today, as they practiced yesterday when it was supposed to be a day off and I believe they will try to play at a faster pace, as they are going nowhere with the halfcourt basketball.

On the other side, I liked the way Washington played in their last game against Orlando, especially on offense, as I was used to see them with no offensive flow and just in Wall's accelerations they were able to score, but now with their new head coach, he inserted some changes that are being successful. The Wizards aren't a good shooting team, but with Lewis at the PF position and with his shooting ability is spreading the floor! They were playing with Blatche + McGee in the frontcourt, two players with no offensive IQ, but now that Blatche is out, Washington is sharing the ball! Besides that, I saw a lot of drive and kick on this game, as in fact Washington shot 11-23 FG and 1.11 PPP, when they season average is just 0.82 PPP! Wall shot just 1-12 FG with just 2 points and the team naturally struggled on P&R Ball Handler plays with 1-10 FG, but he contributed in some other ways with 10A and 7TO! I liked the way their coach used the bench and trusted them, with young guys like Booker, Mack, Seraphin and Crawford playing big minutes! Even with them playing against Howard, Washington shot 20-34 at the rim, showing no fear!

In the first game between these two teams, Washington got their first win of the season (93-78), in a terrible spot for Toronto (4 games in 5 nights + back to back). The pace of that game was 90.22 and even with Toronto's bounce back and revenge spot for tonight, Washington is playing better and they are also fired up, so I'll take them tonight. I also expect this game to be played at a fast pace and looking at the Wizards recent improvements on offense, I'll also take the over in here.
