They pushed the pace more often and that's why they had 26 fast break points & 44 points in the paint. The Heat had a clear edge w/FT's but by playing at home, I expect the referees to be once again more "homerish" and so the Bulls will have more FT's.

It looks like we are involved in every possible “bad beat” in these playoffs – unbelievable! Move on…

Being tonight’s contest a potential elimination game, it’s important for us to predict the Thunder player’s mindset for this game. Will they gave up like the Lakers did in their Game 4 against the Mavericks? In my opinion this will not be the case! Unlike the Lakers, the Thunder already have defeated the Mavs in this series and to make things “easier” for them in a motivational standpoint they beat the Mavs on their floor. Also, unlike the Lakers, the Thunder is a pretty aggressive team on the offensive end - if their shots aren’t falling, they will attack and get to the FT line a lot!

In G4, the Thunder was rolling and they managed to have a 15-points lead with about 5 minutes to play. Then James Harden fouled out – a strange occurrence if we think that he played only 23 minutes and committed 6 fouls! Until then Oklahoma City was really sharing the ball and everyone was involved in the game – note that they ended the game with 23 assists vs. just 16 from the Mavs!

After that the story is well known: they stopped moving the ball while Durant and Westbrook kept taking bad shots after bad shots. The Mavericks recognized that and it was relatively easy for them to get back to the game.

Note also that the Thunder completely crushed the Mavs on the glass: 20-5 edge on the offensive boards! With both teams coming off an overtime game and having just one day off to rest I expect the Thunder to have once again a tremendous edge in this department.

I expect this contest to be a tight game decided only down the stretch. Naturally, the Mavericks have the edge with Dirk Nowitzki on the floor and w/their experience. However we are dealing with a line of 6.5 points and so we have some value for OKC in a potential close game.

On my G3 detailed write up I’ve said the following:

“In my opinion the Bulls will have a better spot to be competitive in the next game – next Tuesday.”

For the first time in this series, fatigue will be a factor and this ultimately favors the “deeper team” – the Chicago Bulls! Note that in the first three games of the series both teams had at least 2 days off to rest, however for tonight we are talking about of just one day off to rest! This is important because it has been a tough and physical series so far… In G3, Lebron James played 44min; Wade 39min and/or Bosh 43min! For the Bulls, only Deng logged more than 40 minutes of action…

In terms of adjustments, it might be strange to say but Heat’s head coach Spoelstra completely outcoached the coach of the year Thibodeau! Once again, the Bulls didn’t want James and/or Wade to get clean shots near the basket, Spoelstra recognized that and that’s why Chris Bosh enjoyed one of the best games of his career. Due to all the adjustments made, the Heat was ultra effective on the offensive end: they shot 50.7% from the field; 25-29 FT and after shooting 4-18 FG & 4-16 FG from 16-23 feet, the Heat shot 10-19 FG from that distance!

I expect the Bulls to bring a better defensive game plan for tonight… and I’m pretty confident that by no means Chris Bosh will have another big game. With the Heat having more problems to score w/high %FG’s, the battle of the boards will be crucial.

The Bulls completely dominated the boards in G3 so in a potential low scoring game I think that the Bulls will have some advantage in here…

Derrick Rose has been well defended so far in the series especially in the pick n roll plays. I’ve read some comments by him after G3 and I expect the Bulls to change some offensive plays for tonight in order to surprise the Heat.
