NFL Week 4 Premium Play 10/01: Chicago Bears @ Dallas Cowboys

NFL Week 4 - 231 Chicago Bears @ 232 Dallas Cowboys

Projected Line: pk line

I was having some doubts on this game and I was actually leaning towards taking the Under, until Matt Forte made a great recovery and he is now probable to play tonight. With Matt Forte on the field, everything changes and I expect the Bears to be the best team on the field tonight, with their offense back at their level. Without Matt Forte last week at home against the Rams, Chicago's offense became extremely predictable on the passing game plus Michael Bush for the short yardage and they couldn't do a thing against the Rams. If they had to play without Forte once again tonight, they would have been in huge trouble, but with Matt Forte on the field, Chicago becomes a well-balanced team, with a good threat on the running game and also a decent threat on the passing game, with Jay Cutler having in Brandon Marshall, Devin Hester and Alshon Jeffrey, three wide receivers capable of making big offensive plays for the Bears. Even though the Bears' Offensive Line has been struggling, the return of Matt Forte also helps Jay Cutler in not being so pressured tonight by a good Cowboys pass rush that will be missing some starters on the front seven and therefore may not be as strong as usual. Bottom line, with Matt Forte on the field, I believe the Bears will have at least a respectable offensive production tonight.

On the other hand, I'm not so sure that Dallas will have a good offensive game. The Bears are defending extremely well right now and their pass rush has been lethal, something that will put loads of pressure on Tony Romo, a player who is known for not handling pressure well, and on an Offensive Line that I believe isn't good and started to struggle last week against the Buccaneers. Chicago also possesses a good run defense and I don't believe DeMarco Murray will bounce back tonight after two games against Seattle and Tampa Bay, where he did very little. The Bears' secondary may not be one of the best in the league, but with Tony Romo pressured by the pass rush and with the Cowboys lacking good depth on the receivers corps, I believe Dallas will definitely have troubles tonight on their offense.

Not only Chicago is likely to have a better offensive night than Dallas, as they have also a much better special teams unit that should also give them a good edge on this unit. I believe Chicago, with Matt Forte back, is the better team of the two and therefore, I'll be taking them plus the points tonight.

NFL Week 4 Premium Play 09/30: New York Giants @ Philadelphia Eagles

NFL Week 4 - 229 New York Giants @ 230 Philadelphia Eagles

Projected Line: Philadelphia by 6 points

While most people are expecting the Giants to crush Michael Vick today, I actually believe it's Eli Manning that is going to have a very tough time tonight. I expect a lot of problems to the Giants offense today. They are coming from a very easy game in Carolina, where the Panthers were pathetic and basically didn't show up to play. But before that game, the Giants had struggled against both Dallas and Tampa Bay, first with the inability of having any kind of decent production against the Cowboys and then, with Eli Manning throwing some terrible passes that allowed the Bucs to intercept him in three occasions. Therefore, I expect the Giants passing game to struggle again today against a team that not only has a great pass rush to hurry and put pressure on Eli, as they have a great secondary to take advantage of the rushed poor passes that Eli will certainly throw tonight. The Giants will be without Hakeem Nicks tonight and if that wasn't a problem against the terrible Panthers, it will certainly be a problem against one of the best pass defenses in the league. In terms of the running game, Andre Brown looked good last week, but he will have to share the carries today with the returning Ahmad Bradshaw and I don't believe these two players will be able to cause problems to the competent run defense of the Eagles. Philadelphia is a terrible matchup for the Giants offense and I believe they will bounce back today from last week's poor performance in Arizona by putting Eli Manning and the Giants' offensive unit in a lot of problems.

In terms of the Eagles offense, it's obvious that Michael Vick is struggling, no doubt about it. But it's also clear that he was still able to give the team a lot of yardage against Cleveland and Baltimore, before getting literally crushed in Arizona. If we were talking about a game against the 2011 Playoffs version of the Giants, I would say Vick was going to get killed today by the Giants DL, but we are not. The Giants pass rush has been very unimpressive on this early season and they aren't being able to cause the havoc that they were causing in last season's playoffs. In fact, both Dallas and Tampa Bay were capable of having good yardage against them and put a good number of points in the scoreboard. I don't believe that's going to be different with Philadelphia today, especially with WR Jeremy Maclin back and with RB LeSean McCoy being a huge threat in the backfield to a Giants run defense that has also lived better days in the past. Therefore, even if Michael Vick struggles tonight, Philadelphia has too many options on their offense to not score a decent number of points against a Giants defense that has been decent but quite unspectacular on this early season.

With Philadelphia putting the Giants offense in huge trouble today and with the Eagles being able to have a decent offensive production even if Michael Vick struggles today (see their week 2 game versus Baltimore), I believe Philadelphia will continue their recent domination over the Giants (7-1 L8 games) and have a comfortable home win tonight over their divisional rivals. I'll be taking the Eagles in here.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 230 Philadelphia Eagles (-2,5) @ -110 / 1.91 on Bookmaker

2-Team 6pts Teaser:

NFL Week 4 - 209 Carolina Panthers @ 210 Atlanta Falcons
NFL Week 4 - 225 New Orleans Saints @ 226 Green Bay Packers

Atlanta keeps being undefeated on this season and they are looking rock solid on offense, with a spectacular Matt Ryan, a great receivers corps, a good running back and a very good offensive line. Their defense is also looking to be very confident and making a lot of big plays, therefore I don't really expect them to struggle at home (where they're very strong) against a divisional rival that is clearly struggling right now. It seems clear that Cam Newton is having a sophomore slump and their running game isn't being good enough to compensate that. The Panthers defense is also quite far from what they've been in the recent past and therefore, even though I expect Carolina to play much better than they did against the Giants last week, they won't have the quality in both defense and offense to beat Atlanta on the road. I expect the Falcons to have a relatively comfortable win in here.

Green Bay is coming from a very controversial MNF loss in Seattle last Monday Night, so they'll be fired up to crush the Saints today. I don't think the Packers offense is struggling, as I believe they haven't been effective on their early season because they faced San Francisco, Chicago and Seattle, three of the best defenses in the league. Now against the poor Saints defense, I expect Green Bay to have a huge offensive game. On the other hand, New Orleans is struggling big time without their coach Sean Payton and Drew Brees is being a shadow from what he did last season. The Packers' pass rush will put him in a lot of pressure and with the Packers crushing the Saints defense, I don't believe New Orleans will have an offensive production good enough to match the great offensive production the Packers will have today. Therefore, I expect Green Bay to have an easy win today.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 210 Atlanta Falcons (-1) x 226 Green Bay Packers (-1) @ -120 / 1.83 on Bookmaker

NFL Week 4 Premium Play 09/30: Miami Dolphins @ Arizona Cardinals

NFL Week 4 - 219 Miami Dolphins @ 220 Arizona Cardinals

Projected Line: 44 points

It might seem weird to take the Over on a contest between two teams not exactly known for their great offensive football, however I see a lot of reasons to actually believe this will be a relatively high scoring game, with both teams being able to have a good offensive game today.

Arizona is one of the three teams still undefeated in the league and it's clear that the main reason for that is their defense. However, Kevin Kolb is doing a good job as their Quarterback since John Skelton went down with an ankle injury, giving the Cardinals a solid passing game. I believe Arizona has a good matchup to explore today, as Miami's best secondary player CB Richard Marshall is unlikely to play today and therefore, Larry Fitzgerald should have a very favorable matchup to explore today, allowing Arizona to have some big passing plays today. Arizona's running game suffered a blow with RB Beanie Wells going into the IR, however the Cardinals have good depth on the RB position with Ryan Williams being the team's primary RB for today and he should be able to give some support to Arizona's passing game that should be having a good day today, especially as Miami lacks a good pass rush that can put pressure on Kolb.

In terms of the Dolphins' offense, they have been surprising everybody with their super competent running game, with Daniel Thomas, Reggie Bush and Lamar Miller being able to give the team some excellent offensive production, mostly helped by a very good Offensive Line. Arizona is certainly better on pass defense than on run defense, therefore I believe Miami should be able to put the Cardinals in trouble with their potent running game today. On the other hand, Ryan Tannehill should have a very tough day today against the Cardinals great pass defense, with the only good news for him being the fact that he has a very good Offensive Line around him that should be able to limit Arizona's good pass rush that has been very good on this early season.

I also have to mention that both Arizona and Miami have a great returner in Patrick Peterson and Marcus Thigpen respectively and these two players should at least give their teams a good starting position on their drives today. I believe Arizona with the passing game and Miami with the running game should be able to have a decent offensive production today and therefore, looking at the low totals line set to this game, I see value on the Over and so, I'll be taking it in here.

NFL Week 4 Premium Play 09/30: San Francisco 49ers @ New York Jets

NFL Week 4 - 211 San Francisco 49ers @ 212 New York Jets

Projected Line: San Francisco by 7 points

I believe in a very strong bounce back from San Francisco today, after losing at Minnesota last week. The Jets are the perfect opponent for the 49ers to have a very good bounce back and therefore, I expect them to have a very comfortable win today. San Francisco has a very good defense, with a lot of quality in all areas barring some minor struggles in the secondary at times. However, they will be facing a team whose QB doesn't have an accurate big arm to expose this weakness, therefore I expect the 49ers to dominate the Jets offense with ease. Mark Sanchez will suffer with San Francisco's continuous pressure and the Jets' running game is way too poor to do anything against the 49ers' excellent run defense.

On the other hand, I expect San Francisco to also bounce back offensively today. The Jets have been struggling on the run defense, with both Buffalo and Miami exposing them big time in previous weeks and things shouldn't be different today, with Frank Gore leading a running game full of quality to expose this weakness. With Darrelle Revis in the IR, the Jets lose a lot of quality on their secondary as well (as seen in week 2 at Pittsburgh) and San Francisco has a great receivers corps to expose that as well. The Jets' pass rush is quite unimpressive and therefore, Alex Smith won't feel very pressured today and he should be able to bounce back today and come back to the rock solid performances he uses to have.

With San Francisco also having a clear edge in terms of special teams, I really believe this should be a quite easy game for the 49ers, therefore I'll be taking them in here for a quite comfortable win.

Pick: 3 units (Single Dime Play) on 211 San Francisco 49ers (-4) @ -110 / 1.91 on Bookmaker

NFL Week 4 Premium Play 09/30: Minnesota Vikings @ Detroit Lions

NFL Week 4 - 207 Minnesota Vikings @ 208 Detroit Lions

Projected Line: Detroit by 1 point

I believe this game should really be a close contest, where I'll be glad to take the most stable team of the two on the field today plus the points in here. Detroit won't be in full force for today, with QB Matthew Stafford struggling with a hamstring injury. This can become very problematic against the very good pass rush of the Vikings, who can certainly hit Stafford today and put him in a very delicate situation. This is extremely problematic for them, as Detroit's offense depends almost exclusively on their passing game, as even though Mikel LeShoure gave the running game an extra gear last week against Tennessee, Minnesota has a very good run defense and they won't allow a lot of yardage to the Lions' Running Backs today. So, with Minnesota's pass rush putting the injured Stafford in trouble, hurrying him not to be able to expose Minnesota's questionable secondary and with Detroit's running game being likely to be ineffective against the Vikings' front seven, I believe Detroit will have a tough day on offense today.

With Detroit struggling on offense, they become an easy team to beat, as their defense isn't good enough to compensate any kind of lack of offensive effectiveness. Their Defensive Line may be aggressive, but QB Christian Ponder is a very mobile and assertive Quarterback, who should be able to explore the holes in the Lions defense. Detroit also struggles on run defense, especially against powerful Running Backs and even though Adrian Peterson is still a bit far from his best, he is already more than able to pound Detroit with some good runs. Minnesota's offense may not be spectacular, but they have a very solid unit that plays a lot of smart football, something that Detroit's defense lacks, as they play mostly with their heart and not with their head.

So, I'll be taking Minnesota today, as not only they are right now playing at least as well as Detroit, as they are the smarter and most solid team, making them a very valuable underdog today. I'm taking the Vikings plus the points in here.
