NBA Premium Play 03/04: New York Knicks @ Boston Celtics

NBA - 801 New York Knicks @ 802 Boston Celtics

Projected line: Boston by 6 points

***DOUBLE DIME PLAY***

I expect the Knicks and especially Lin to struggle today. Looking at their last games, if we exclude their loss against the Nets on a clear letdown spot on a back to back game after beating Dallas in the previous day, their other two recent losses have been against the Hornets and at Miami. In those two games, the pace was relatively low at 90 and in both games the Knicks turnovers completely destroyed their chances by committing 21 and 19 turnovers respectively. So, it's clear that on a half court game with their opponents being able to set traps on Lin, the turnovers appear quite often. Boston will surely do this, as they have a good coaching staff who knows how to take advantage of this.

Speaking of half court, Boston's offense has been having a really good ball movement with 26, 27 and 35 assists in their last three games, even though their games were at Cleveland and then at home against Milwaukee and New Jersey. Still, the team is now with a good flow thanks to Rondo, who after having a 0-6 FG night at Cleveland, bounced back big time in the team's last two games and given his trade rumors involving him, this National TV game is a great opportunity for him to show how well he can play.

In terms of floor spacing, plays and execution, Boston's offenses doesn't receive lessons from anyone. Their defense is also excellent, as they are the #2 overall defense in the league in terms of efficiency. Their only problem have been on rebounds, however they had 50/50 rebounding in their last two games. The Knicks aren't a dominant team on this area and the Celtics have actually outrebounded the Knicks in the first two games of this series by grabbing 57% and 52% of the total boards.

I believe the Celtics with their experience and excellent defense will be able to stop Lin and the rest of the Knicks today. This is a good spot for Boston to have a good win on National TV, with Rondo being on a good moment and ready to outplay Lin, who is expected to struggle with turnovers against such a good and experienced defense like the Celtics. Therefore, I'll be taking Boston in here.
